HERMES

art & design, 17.05.2012

"Volker Hermes’ main interest lies in the surfaces, dynamics and composition of classical motives of paintings. Hermes analyses works of exemplary status in art history by drawing them on large canvas screens with Edding and other permanent markers. An example of this is the delicate and elaborate depiction of a horse based on the painting by Henri Regnault. Here he took the motive of the horse out of its visual context and focused on the dynamic movement of the horse’s body, and the spectacular luxuriance of the animal’s mane."

untouchable, intangible, omnipresent and still visible.

surfaces can't hide from her.
the rock is exposed to the air. to the wind. to the flowing water.
it's all about time. you only can see interactions when time goes by...
we can't hide. we can choose.
look up.
look inside.
look further.

take everthing you can carry.
use everything you can carry.
the rock.
the air.
the water.
the wind in your hair.
as an interaction between completely different things.
emerging from time.
harmonic collision.
structural variety.
